You’ve probably been redirected to my blog from my justgiving page, www.justgiving.com/Mark-Carlton1, so you know why I have set this challenge and the charity I am raising money for. If you’ve come direct to my blog, may I direct you, like satellite navigation during a traffic jam, to my justgiving page. Just remember to come back afterwards, we’ll wait for you, don’t you worry……
Right, are you up to date? Great. I’ll begin.
I am writing this the night before I embark on my longest training run, in fact, my longest run ever. I am now on week five of my training schedule and after a relatively sedentary week (10k and a 9k session), compared to previous weeks, I am now stepping up the mileage as I enter the middle part of the schedule. This will be where I hopefully start to gain the fitness to complete this first half marathon.
Tomorrow’s session has me traipsing around the village roads for an hour and twenty minutes, which is a little daunting, but a challenge none the less. If I am honest, I am more worried about the state of my feet at the end of this week. At the moment, they don’t look too bad, granted they don’t look brilliant, but I have been running two to three times a week for the past couple of months. I expected a bit of wear and tear and they are holding up pretty well. However, I think they are one long run away from becoming grotesque.
So for posterity, to remember how we used to be, I will post a photo of my left foot. ( My left foot seems to be having a harder time of it than my right, which, remarkably seems perfectly normal).
There you go. It’s not too bad is it?
For comparison purposes and to update you on how the run went, I will post my mangled claw of a foot tomorrow.
Wish me luck.
